About Jerry Ouellette

A dedicated public servant with a strong record of advocacy for Oshawa, Jerry Ouellette previously served as Oshawa’s longest-serving MPP for the riding from 1995 to 2014. As MPP, he was an advocate for the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre, the Durham Court House, Ontario Tech University, the Highway 401 / Stevenson Road Interchange, and extending Highway 407 into Durham Region.

During his tenure, he also held key roles, including Minister of Natural Resources, Junior Minister Northern Development and Mines, Junior Minister Transportation, Chair of the Justice Committee, Chair of the General Government Committee, Vice-Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, PC Critic for Indigenous Affairs, and PC Critic for Natural Resources. As Minister of Natural Resources, Jerry Ouellette assisted Canada’s successful case against the U.S. at the World Trade Organization tribunal on the softwood lumber dispute and helped to manage the outbreak of mad cow disease in Ontario.

Since 2014, Jerry Ouellette has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Chaga Health and Wellness Inc. and currently serves on the Board of Governors for Durham College. Jerry Ouellette is also an active community volunteer who chaired the world Junior A men’s hockey championships when it took place in Ontario, and he has been involved with missionary work in Kenya, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Mexico, and Cuba.

Jerry Ouellette and the Ontario PC Party will support the people of Oshawa by focusing on protecting Ontario workers and jobs, investing in transit and infrastructure, and investing in public safety initiatives and homelessness prevention to build stronger, safer communities.
