President Trump’s tariffs are threatening Ontario workers, businesses and communities. Ontario’s PC government is fighting back with new investments to protect jobs, help workers build new skills and strengthen our economy.
Through the Canada-Ontario Workforce Tariff Response, Ontario is investing more than $228 million over three years through Skills Advance Ontario to help up to 27,000 workers retrain, upgrade their skills and prepare for rewarding, in-demand careers.
Nearly $27 million is already supporting 13 Skills Advance Ontario projects and almost 2,000 workers, with a focus on helping people build the skills employers need in tariff-impacted industries, including steel, automotive and manufacturing.
Ontario’s PC government has also invested more than $8 million in 10 POWER Centres, supporting more than 24,000 workers in communities affected by layoffs and economic disruption. These centres bring employment services, training and other supports directly to workers and families who need them.
These investments are part of Ontario’s broader plan to protect workers, strengthen our workforce and build a stronger, more self-reliant economy in the face of President Trump’s unjustified tariffs.
